High on a rocky mountain, where the wind hums through grey stones, lives a small, plump pika named Pip. With his red knitted scarf and brown satchel, Pip senses that winter is coming, and he has a big plan: a winter party in the rocks, with food, music and friends. But the work is too much for one small pika, so when a mountain finch named Lark offers to help, the two divide the tasks. Pip gathers seeds and berries along the rocky paths, while Lark lines a small cave with soft moss and sings warm songs that make the cold mountain feel a little brighter. As the first snowflakes begin to fall, the friends finish their cozy party room and wait for their guests.
The next morning the mountain is white, but Pip's packed-down trail and Lark's welcoming songs guide a mouse, a squirrel and a shy rabbit to the cave. Inside, the friends share berries and seeds, tell stories, dance and laugh while the snow falls softly outside. When a strong wind piles snow at the entrance, Pip and Lark discover that their different talents, his careful preparation and her brave singing, can solve a problem neither could manage alone.
This gentle children's tale is suited to young readers and to adults reading aloud. It shows how planning, generosity and cooperation turn a difficult season into a warm celebration, and how friendship can make a cold mountain feel like home.

The Pika's Winter Party - Author : Aysel Banu YAVUZAL
High on a rocky mountain, where the wind hummed through grey stones, lived a little pika named Pip. Pip was round and plump, with soft sandy-brown fur and a creamy belly. He wore a tiny red knitted scarf and carried a brown satchel for seeds and berries. Every morning, Pip peeked out of his cozy rock den and sniffed the crisp air. Winter was coming soon. 1
Pip knew that winter brought deep snow and cold nights. He had a big plan: a winter party in the rocks, with food and music and friends. But there was so much to do! Pip filled his satchel with seeds and berries, one by one. His tiny round ears twitched as he worked. 'I need help,' he said. 'A party is too big for one small pika.' 2
Just then, a mountain finch landed nearby. Her name was Lark. She had a grey-brown back, a pale peach breast, and a little blue bow at her neck. In her beak, she carried a woven moss basket. 'Hello, Pip!' she chirped. 'You look busy.' Pip smiled. 'I'm planning a winter party, but I can't do it alone.' Lark's bright black eyes sparkled. 'I can help!' 3
Lark said, 'I can't carry many seeds, but I can sing warm songs and find soft moss.' Pip nodded. 'That's perfect! You make the party cozy, and I'll fill the food basket.' So they divided the work. Pip gathered berries and seeds, while Lark flew from rock to rock, singing a sweet melody. Her song made the cold mountain feel a little warmer. 4
Each day, Pip scampered along the rocky paths, his satchel growing fuller. He found tiny seeds under bushes and bright red berries on low plants. His short whiskers twitched with joy. 'This will be a feast!' he said. Sometimes he stopped to rest, feeling proud of his hard work. But he always remembered to save some berries for later. 5
Lark fluttered through the mountain, collecting soft green moss in her woven basket. She lined a small cave with it, making a snug, warm spot. As she worked, she sang songs about sunshine and spring. Her voice echoed off the rocks, and Pip's heart felt light. 'Your songs make the work go faster,' Pip called. Lark chirped happily. 'And your berries make my tummy rumble!' 6
One afternoon, a chilly wind blew. 'Snow is coming,' Pip said, looking at the grey sky. 'We must finish soon.' Lark nodded. 'I'll sing an extra warm song to keep us going.' She sang a bright tune, and Pip hurried to gather the last seeds. Together, they filled the little cave with food and soft moss. It looked like a perfect party room. 7
That evening, the first snowflakes began to fall. Pip and Lark sat at the entrance of their cozy cave, watching the white flakes swirl. 'Our friends will come tomorrow,' Pip said. 'Will they find us?' Lark smiled. 'My songs will guide them.' She sang a welcoming tune into the snowy air. The mountain looked quiet and peaceful, like a dream. 8
The next morning, everything was white. The snow was deep, but Pip's path to the cave was clear. He had packed it down with his little feet. 'I made a trail!' he said proudly. Lark flew above, singing so friends could hear. Soon, a mouse appeared, then a squirrel, and even a shy rabbit. They followed the music and the path to the cozy cave. 9
Inside, the cave was warm and bright with moss. Pip shared his berries and seeds. 'Eat as much as you like!' he said. Lark sang happy songs, and everyone clapped. The mouse told a funny story, and the rabbit did a silly dance. Laughter filled the little cave. Outside, the snow fell softly, but inside, everyone felt safe and cheerful. 10
Then the wind grew stronger. 'Oh no,' said the rabbit. 'The snow is piling up at the entrance!' Everyone looked worried. But Pip had an idea. 'Lark, sing your warmest song. Maybe the snow will stop!' Lark sang with all her heart. Her voice was like sunshine. Slowly, the wind died down, and the snow stopped falling. The friends cheered! 11
Pip and Lark smiled at each other. 'We did it together,' said Pip. 'Your songs kept us warm and brave.' Lark nodded. 'And your food kept our tummies full.' They realized that their different talents made the party perfect. Everyone helped to clear the snow, and the cave was cozy again. The party went on with more songs and stories. 12
As the night went on, the friends shared the last berries. 'This is the best winter party ever,' said the mouse. 'And the warmest,' added the squirrel. Pip and Lark felt happy. They had prepared well, and their friendship made the mountain feel like home. 'Let's do this every winter,' said Lark. Everyone agreed, chirping and cheering. 13
When morning came, the guests went home, thanking Pip and Lark. 'Your kindness made us feel safe,' said the rabbit. Pip and Lark waved goodbye. Then they sat together, watching the sunrise on the snowy mountain. 'Winter isn't scary when you have friends,' Pip said. Lark sang a soft song of thanks. They knew they would always help each other. 14
Back in their cozy cave, Pip and Lark rested. They had used their talents well: Pip's hard work and Lark's warm heart. The mountain was quiet and white, but their little rock home was full of happy memories. 'I'm glad we're friends,' said Pip. Lark nodded. 'Me too.
