The Girl and the Little Pony - Author : Aysel Banu YAVUZAL

On a small farm with a red barn and a apple tree, there lived a girl named Lily. She had warm light-brown skin and dark brown hair in two low pigtails. Her big hazel eyes sparkled with curiosity. She wore mustard-yellow rain boots and blue denim overalls over a striped red and white shirt. Lily loved all animals and was always kind and gentle. 1

One sunny morning, Lily saw a new animal in the meadow. It was a little pony with a fluffy cream-coloured coat and a short chestnut mane. He had big dark brown eyes and a small white blaze on his forehead. His round belly made him look like a fluffy ball. Lily's heart danced with joy. She wanted to be friends right away. 2

Lily ran toward the pony with a big smile. "Hello, little pony!" she called. But the pony's ears flicked back, and he took a quick step away. He was shy and skittish. When Lily came too close, he turned and trotted off to the far side of the meadow. Lily stopped and watched him go. She felt a little sad but also curious. 3

Lily sat on the grass and thought. She realized she had moved too fast. The pony needed time to feel safe. "I will be patient," she said softly. She decided to visit every day and sit quietly. She would speak in a gentle voice and never rush. That afternoon, she sat far away and watched the pony eat grass. 4

The next day, Lily came back with a small canvas satchel. Inside were a few apples and a soft brush. She sat on a log near the meadow and waited. The pony looked up but did not run. Lily spoke in a soft, gentle voice. "It's okay, little one. I'm just here to sit." She stayed still and calm. 5

Each day, Lily visited the pony. She sat a little closer each time. She brought hay and laid it on the ground. The pony watched her with his big dark eyes. He sniffed the air but stayed where he was. Lily talked to him about her day. Her voice was like a gentle breeze. The pony began to relax. 6

After a week, the pony let Lily come near. She held out a handful of hay. He stretched his neck and took a bite. His soft pink muzzle tickled her hand. Lily giggled quietly. She did not try to touch him yet. She just let him eat from her hand. The pony's trust was growing, tiny step by tiny step. 7

Lily brought her soft brush. She showed it to the pony and spoke gently. "This is for your coat. It will feel nice." She brushed his fluffy cream coat with slow, gentle strokes. The pony stood still and closed his eyes. He liked the feeling. Lily brushed his chestnut mane and tail. He sighed happily. Patience was working. 8

Every morning, Lily arrived at the same time. She fed the pony hay and brushed him. She always spoke in a soft voice. The pony learned her smell and her kind ways. He would lift his head when he heard her footsteps. He no longer ran away. Lily felt happy. She knew they were becoming friends. 9

One day, a loud noise came from the barn. The pony jumped and skittered away. Lily did not chase him. She sat down and waited. "It's okay," she said softly. "I'm right here." The pony looked at her from a distance. Slowly, he walked back. Lily stayed calm. Her patience helped him feel safe again. 10

The next morning, Lily sat on her usual log. The sun was warm, and the meadow smelled sweet. The pony stood a few steps away. Then, he took a step toward her. Then another. Lily held her breath. The pony walked right up to her and nuzzled her hand. His nose was soft and warm. 11

Lily's heart filled with joy. She gently stroked his white blaze. "Hello, friend," she whispered. The pony leaned into her touch. He was not shy anymore. He trusted her completely. Lily knew that trust takes time. She had been patient, and now they were best friends. The pony nickered softly, as if to say thank you. 12

From that day on, Lily and the pony were always together. She brushed him every morning and fed him apples from her satchel. They walked around the meadow side by side. The pony followed her like a happy puppy. Lily's gentle ways had won his heart. She learned that friendship grows when you give it time. 13

Lily told her friends about the shy pony. "You have to be patient," she said. "Trust takes time." Her friends nodded and smiled. They saw how happy the pony was. Lily's kindness had made a big difference. The pony was no longer afraid. He had found a friend in Lily, and she had found a friend in him. 14

Now, every morning, the pony waits for Lily by the gate. When he sees her mustard-yellow rain boots, he trots over with a happy nicker. Lily laughs and hugs his neck. They are best friends, and they understand each other. Lily knows that being gentle and patient is the best way to make a friend. 15

Lily learned a special lesson. Trust requires time, like a seed that grows slowly. She was patient, and the pony learned to trust her. Now they are best friends forever. And whenever Lily sees a shy animal, she remembers to slow down and be gentle. Because friendship is worth the wait.
