On a bright, busy reef lives Octavia, an octopus with coral-orange skin and eight graceful arms, whose amber eyes sparkle with ideas. Her best friend is Inkwell, a small, shy cuttlefish whose pale sandy skin ripples with quick, shimmering patterns. One morning Octavia proposes something unusual: they will open an art gallery on the reef. There is no paint and no canvas, but the two friends realize they do not need any, because their own changing colors can be their art. Near a tall coral arch they practice making pictures on their bodies, Octavia with bold rainbow stripes and Inkwell with soft, swirling waves of color.
When a young fish named Finn discovers the gallery, word spreads fast, and a crowd of fish, crabs and seahorses gathers to watch. Octavia and Inkwell are nervous, but they take turns performing, and the reef creatures respond with delight. Even Snap, a gruff old crab, ends up clapping his claws and calling it the best show on the reef. Then a little seahorse confesses that she can only change her color a little and wishes she could make art too. Octavia and Inkwell gently show her that creativity takes many forms, and soon the whole reef is full of new ideas.
This illustrated tale for young readers explores friendship, courage and self-expression. It shows children that shyness can be overcome step by step, that everyone has a way of being creative, and that art does not require special tools, only imagination and the willingness to share it with others.

A Chapter from the Book
The Octopus's Art Gallery - Author : Aysel Banu YAVUZAL
Once upon a time, on a bright and busy reef, lived Octavia the octopus. Her soft coral-orange skin shimmered as she curled her eight graceful arms. She had large round amber eyes that sparkled with ideas. Octavia loved to watch the colors of the reef change with the sun. She dreamed of making something beautiful for all her friends to see. 1
Not far away lived Inkwell, a small, plump cuttlefish. His pale sandy skin rippled with quick, shimmering patterns. He had wide, curious green eyes and a short fin skirt that fluttered as he swam. Inkwell was shy, but he was clever and playful. He loved to make soft waves of color dance across his body. He and Octavia were best friends. 2
One morning, Octavia said, 'Inkwell, let's open an art gallery on the reef!' Inkwell's green eyes grew wide. 'But we have no paint and no brushes,' he said. Octavia smiled. 'We don't need them,' she said. 'Our colors are our art!' And so the two friends began to plan their wonderful show. 3
They found a cozy spot near a tall coral arch. 'This will be our gallery,' Octavia declared. Inkwell nodded and tucked his small tentacles neatly beneath him. They practiced making pictures on their own bodies. Octavia showed bright stripes like a rainbow. Inkwell made soft waves of color that shimmered and swirled. They were ready to share their art with the reef. 4
The next day, a young fish named Finn swam by. He had shiny silver-blue scales, bright yellow fins, and big round dark eyes. 'What's this?' he asked, his curved tail wagging. 'It's our art gallery,' said Octavia. 'Watch!' She made a pattern of bright stripes across her arms. Finn gasped. 'Amazing! I must tell everyone!' 5
Finn raced off, his yellow fins flapping. Soon, a crowd of reef creatures gathered. There were fish with spotted tails, crabs with clicking claws, and seahorses with curling tails. Octavia and Inkwell felt a little nervous. 'What if they don't like our paintings?' Inkwell whispered. 'Just be yourself,' Octavia said gently. 'Our colors will do the rest.' 6
Octavia began the show. She changed her skin into bright, bold stripes of orange and pink. Then, with a flick of her arms, she made soft, gentle waves of blue and green. The audience watched with wide eyes. 'Ooh!' said the fish. 'Ahh!' said the crabs. Finn swam in circles, too excited to stay still. Inkwell smiled shyly from behind a rock. 7
Then it was Inkwell's turn. He was nervous, but he took a deep breath. He let his sandy skin ripple with shimmering patterns. First, he made tiny dots like stars. Then, he made long, flowing lines like seaweed. The audience clapped their fins and claws. 'Beautiful!' they cried. Inkwell's green eyes shone with happiness. He had never felt so proud. 8
A gruff old crab named Snap pushed to the front. He had a deep red shell with pale speckles and long stalk eyes that swiveled with wonder. 'Hmph,' he said. 'Let's see what you've got.' Octavia and Inkwell worked together. Octavia made a bright spiral, and Inkwell added soft waves around it. Snap's stalk eyes grew wide. 'Well, I'll be!' he said. 9
Snap raised his two claws high and clapped them loudly. 'This is the best show on the reef!' he declared. The other creatures cheered. Finn darted around, telling everyone, 'I told you! I told you!' Octavia and Inkwell bowed, their colors glowing with joy. The gallery was a hit, and the reef was full of happy chatter. 10
But then a little seahorse swam up, looking sad. 'I wish I could make art like you,' she said. 'But I can only change my color a little.' Octavia swam close and smiled. 'Art isn't just about color,' she said. 'It's about being creative in your own way. You can make art by arranging shells or dancing in the water.' The seahorse's eyes lit up. 11
Inkwell added, 'When I was shy, I thought I couldn't share my colors. But I found my own way.' He made a soft wave of color just for the seahorse. 'See? Your way is special too.' The seahorse wiggled her tail and swam off to make a shell picture. The other creatures began to think of their own art. The reef was full of new ideas. 12
From that day on, the gallery was always busy. Fish came to see Octavia's bright stripes, and crabs came to see Inkwell's soft waves. Sometimes they all made art together. Snap became the official greeter, clapping his claws at every new visitor. Finn was the tour guide, racing from one painting to the next. Everyone loved the living paintings. 13
Octavia and Inkwell learned that creativity takes many forms. It can be bright stripes or soft waves, shell pictures or dancing. The whole reef was inspired to make its own art. They held a festival of creativity, with colors and shapes everywhere. The reef sparkled with joy. Octavia and Inkwell smiled, happy to have started something wonderful. 14
And so, the octopus's art gallery became a place where everyone could share their colors. Octavia's coral-orange skin and Inkwell's shimmering patterns were the stars, but every creature added a special touch. The reef was a masterpiece of friendship and imagination. And they all lived happily, making art together under the sea.
