The Little Rabbit's Library

The Little Rabbit's Library

Aysel Banu YAVUZAL

In a sunny forest clearing, a little rabbit named Remy spends every morning reading books under a big oak tree, wishing his friends could share the stories he loves. One day a tiny mouse named Milo, who wears a mustard-yellow vest and round glasses and keeps a green pencil behind his ear, introduces himself as a writer looking for a place to keep his tales. Together Remy and Milo decide to build a library inside a hollow tree, sorting books on bark shelves and writing labels and story cards with Milo's pencil.

Remy hops from burrow to burrow inviting the birds, squirrels and deer to bring their favourite tales, and the hollow tree slowly fills with books and cards until the shelves are crammed and the friends must call on the beavers, squirrels and birds to help them build more space. When the new shelves are ready, Milo suggests a reading festival, and animals of all sizes gather for stories, laughter and a fire at sunset.

The story follows Remy and Milo as they discover that sharing stories can turn a quiet forest into a community, and that working together and welcoming everyone makes a small idea grow into something lasting. Young readers who enjoy gentle animal tales about friendship, books and cooperation will find a warm, simple story here, suited to being read aloud or read alone.

A Chapter from the Book

The Little Rabbit's Library - Author : Aysel Banu YAVUZAL

In a sunny forest clearing, a little rabbit named Remy loved to read. Every morning, Remy hopped through the tall grass with a canvas satchel full of books. The birds sang, the leaves rustled, and Remy found a cozy spot under a big oak tree. 'If only my friends could share these stories,' Remy sighed happily. The forest was peaceful, but Remy's heart wanted more. 1

One day, a tiny mouse named Milo scampered up to Remy. Milo wore a mustard-yellow vest and tiny round glasses, and a green pencil was tucked behind one ear. 'I write stories!' Milo squeaked. 'But where can we keep them all?' Remy's eyes sparkled. 'Let's build a library in the forest!' they said together. And so the grand idea began. 2

Remy and Milo found a hollow tree with a wide, welcoming entrance. 'This will be our library!' Remy declared, sorting books on a shelf made of bark. Milo wrote labels with a green pencil, and together they stacked story cards in neat piles. 'We need more stories,' Milo said. 'Let's ask our friends!' The little library was ready to grow. 3

Remy hopped from burrow to burrow, inviting everyone. 'Bring your favorite tale!' Remy called. Milo gathered stories from the birds, the squirrels, and the deer. Each friend shared a story, and Milo wrote them all down. The hollow tree filled with books and cards, and the little library began to feel like a treasure chest of tales. 4

Soon, word spread through the forest. 'Have you heard about the library?' asked a hedgehog. 'They have stories about brave frogs and magic acorns!' Animals came from far and near. Remy welcomed each visitor with a warm smile and a book. Milo told stories in a cheerful voice, and everyone listened with wide, happy eyes. 5

But one day, a problem appeared. The books were piled high, and the shelves were crammed. 'We need more space!' Remy said, looking worried. Milo twitched his whiskers. 'We could build more shelves,' Milo suggested. 'But we need help.' They called their friends, and everyone came to lend a paw. 6

The beavers brought branches, the squirrels gathered twine, and the birds flew to find soft moss. Remy organized the building, and Milo drew a plan on a big leaf. 'A shelf here, a nook there!' Milo chirped. Everyone worked together, and the library grew bigger and brighter. The forest echoed with happy chatter and the sound of teamwork. 7

At last, the new shelves were ready. Remy placed books carefully, and Milo arranged story cards in colorful rows. 'It's perfect!' Remy cheered. But then Milo had another idea. 'Let's have a reading festival!' Milo exclaimed. 'We can invite every animal in the forest!' Remy's ears stood straight up with excitement. 'Yes! A festival of stories for all!' 8

Remy and Milo planned the festival with care. They hung lanterns made of acorn caps and draped vines like garlands. Milo wrote invitations on leaves and sent them with the wind. 'Bring a story to share!' the invitations said. Remy practiced welcoming speeches, and Milo rehearsed a funny tale about a sneezing squirrel. 9

The day of the festival arrived, and the forest was buzzing. Animals of all sizes came—foxes, owls, badgers, and even a shy turtle. Remy greeted everyone at the entrance of the hollow tree. 'Welcome to our library!' Remy said. Milo handed out story cards and pencils. 'Write your own tale!' Milo encouraged. The air smelled of pine and excitement. 10

The first reading festival began with a hush. Remy stood on a stump and read a story about a brave little rabbit. Everyone listened, and when Remy finished, they clapped and cheered. Then Milo told a silly story that made the squirrels giggle. One by one, animals shared their tales. The forest filled with laughter, wonder, and the warm feeling of friendship. 11

As the sun set, the animals gathered around a crackling fire. 'Stories bring us together,' Remy said softly. 'We are all friends here.' Milo nodded, his glasses glinting in the firelight. 'This library is for everyone,' Milo added. 'And every story is a gift.' The animals nodded, and a peaceful happiness settled over the clearing. 12

From that day on, the little library in the hollow tree was never empty. Animals came to read, to write, and to share. Remy sorted shelves and welcomed new visitors, while Milo wrote down every story told. The forest felt like one big happy family, connected by tales and kindness. And the little rabbit and mouse knew they had built something wonderful. 13

Remy and Milo sat outside the library, watching friends come and go. 'We did it,' Remy whispered. 'We made a place where stories live.' Milo smiled, his whiskers twitching. 'And where friends meet,' Milo said. They looked at the happy animals reading together, and their hearts felt full. The forest was a better place because of their little library. 14

The reading festival became a tradition, held every season. Each time, more animals came, bringing new stories and new friends. Remy and Milo beamed with pride as they watched the forest family grow. 'Stories connect us all,' Remy said. Milo nodded. 'And every story starts with a friend.' The little library in the hollow tree was a home for every tale and every heart. 15

And so, the little rabbit's library—built by a rabbit and a mouse —stood as a shining example of what friends can do together. Remy and Milo knew that stories were more than words; they were bridges between hearts. The forest was one big happy family, and every animal had a story to share. The end.
